NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING FOR THE ELECTION OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES AND 2025 LIBRARY BUDGET VOTE

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Wallkill Public Library District to the qualified voters of the District that the Election of Library Trustees and 2025 Budget Vote of the Wallkill Public Library District will be held on the 17th day of September 2024, at the Wallkill Public Library, 7 Bona Ventura Ave., in Wallkill, NY, on which date the polls will be open between the hours of 10am and 9p.m., for the purpose of voting by paper ballot:

  1. To elect two Library Trustees to serve for a term of five years, beginning December 1, 2024.

 

  1. To increase the 2025 Tax Levy by a total of $9,504 from last year’s levy, for a total 2025 Tax Levy of $389,646. This increase is an amount well within the allowed Tax Levy cap.

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that only those individuals who are qualified voters within the area of the Library District shall be permitted to vote. Eligible voters must be Town of Shawangunk residents who also live in the Wallkill Central School District.

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that petitions for nominating candidates for the office of Library Trustee must be filed with the President of the library Board of Trustees by 5 p.m. on September 4, 2024. Candidates must live in the Town of Shawangunk and reside in the Wallkill Central School District. Such petitions must be signed by at least 50 qualified voters of the library District and shall state the physical address of each signer, along with the name and physical address of the candidate. Petition forms may be picked up at the library.

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots for the Election of Library Trustees and 2025 Budget Vote may be applied for at the Wallkill Public Library at least seven days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed, or the day before the election if the ballot will be picked up. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available at the Circulation desk of the Library during regular office hours until the day of the Library Election and Vote.
